In 2018, Centre of Polymeric Systems (CPS) and Centre for Security, Information and Advanced Technologies (CEBIA-Tech) – TBU-affiliated research sites based in Zlín – will be seeking to win HR Award Excellence in Research.

This major, widely recognized certificate is awarded to research organizations by the European Commission. It is based on the principle of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

“HR Award is a symbol of the quality of management of research organizations, which is key to increase the competitiveness of both centres, particularly in the field of international cooperation – research projects financed by the European Union form one of the examples,” said Vladimír Sedlařík, TBU’s Vice-Rector for Research, Development and Creative Activities who also serves as the Managing Director of Centre of Polymeric Systems, in explaining the importance of the award.

“I see the award we won as a logical, qualitative shift of the two centres that are equipped with cutting-edge research infrastructure. However, people using this infrastructure are key to everything. I believe that the certification of the way we are meeting the internationally accepted researcher standards will lead to improved labour environment at the centres and, subsequently, to increased performance of the researcher staff,” adds Vladimír Sedlařík.

Currently, extensive analyses are underway at either of the sites to provide the basis for producing a strategic plan. The plan will be the subject of assessment by the European Commission – a body that has also been monitoring its implementation very strictly and on a regular basis.

This project will also enable the sending of young researchers to stays abroad, whether in academic or industrial domains. Other scheduled activities include the presentation of the results of research and development achieved at the centres to both professionals and lay persons.

The two research centres were predominantly built using EU funds and are strongly focused on linking research and the real life. Their performance significantly influences the qualitative indicators and the reputation of Tomas Bata University in Zlín at both the national and international level, which has a positive effect on the city of Zlín and the Zlín Region.
