Connecting science with practice: the CPS is a partner of CirkArena

The Centre of Polymer Systems (CPS) is a proud partner of the newly launched CirkArena project, a unique scientific research centre focused on circular economy and sustainable development in the Moravian-Silesian region. During the opening ceremony on 25 and 26 March 2025, CPS representatives, together with other key partners from the academic, public and private spheres, confirmed their commitment to work closely together on this pioneering project.

The aim of the CirkArena project is to link research with practice, focusing on modern technologies, recycling and innovative materials. Experts from CPS will be involved in researching new sustainable solutions and their implementation in industrial practice. The role of CPS will be to coordinate and implement the research area focused on bio-waste. At the same time, we will be involved in the implementation of the objectives set out in the research plans for plastics recycling. “An integral part of our role in the CirkArena project is to build a modern infrastructure for the analysis of plastics and biomaterials, which will consist of high-tech  and modern instruments,” said Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík about the project.

Other academic partners are the Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Technical University in Prague, Brno University of Technology and the Institute of Chemical Processes of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The project also involves the public sector, namely the Statutory City of Třinec and the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava. The project is co-funded by the European Union and is strongly supported by the Moravian-Silesian Region.
