On Friday 12 April, regional councillors led by Governor Radim Holiš rewarded twelve important personalities from the region working in medicine, education, culture, sports, crisis management, the non-profit sector and in other areas for their long-term outstanding activities, and that at an award ceremony held in the Zlín Congress Centre. At the gala night, they were presented with the Medals of Merit of the Second Class by the Zlín Region.
“It is an expression of our appreciation and gratitude to the people who have been doing a great job for a long period of time on a maximum professional level, with commitment and devotion, thus significantly contributing to the good reputation and to the development of the Zlín Region,” said Governor Radim Holiš.
Among the awardees, there were three persons from Tomas Bata University. Prof. Milan Adámek, TBU Rector, received an award for the development of education and cooperation between Tomas Bata University in Zlín and the Zlín Regional Authority. Moreover, Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector Emeritus of TBU and Director of the Centre of Polymer Systems, for the development of education and cooperation between Tomas Bata University in Zlín and the Zlín Regional Authority, and Prof. David Tuček, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics, for the development of education in the field of economics in the Zlín Region.

for the development and high quality of healthcare in the Zlín Region
Libor Lukáš
for the development of transport infrastructure in Moravia
Josef Němý
for his many years of leading the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra
Tomáš Netopil
for his significant contribution to classical music in the Czech Republic and abroad
Ing. Vít Rušar
for his exemplary management of the Fire Brigade of the Zlín Region
MUDr. Eva Sedláčková, Ph.D.
for exemplary management of the Regional Public Health Authority of the Zlín Region
JUDr. Jaromír Tkadleček
for exemplary management of the Regional Police Directorate of the Zlín Region
Petr Vabroušek
for outstanding sports performances and excellent results achieved at competitions in the Czech Republic and abroad
Veronika Crha Záhorská
for her active and long-term work in the non-profit sector
In the course of the evening, Governor Radim Holiš used this opportunity to thank his colleagues from the Council of the Zlín Region and the Director of the Regional Authority of the Zlín Region, Jitka Hlavačková, for their excellent cooperation.
