Gumference 2023

The traditional international rubber conference Gumference 2023 took place on 9 February. For the second year in a row, the conference was organized in cooperation between CPS and the Leibniz Institut fur Polymerforschung in Dresden. 

The rubber conference was also held for the second year in a row in a new online format, which proved to be very successful as both speakers and audience could participate from all over the world thanks to the online format. A total of 11 lectures were given describing the latest knowledge gained in the field of tire abrasion, the ability of rubber to self-heal, the effect of aging on the fracture behavior of rubber as well as dielectric properties from both experimental and numerical perspectives, and other very interesting topics were discussed.  All the lectures will be published in Polymer Bulletin, published by Springer, later this year.

A total of 379 registered participants from 28 countries attended the Gum Conference 2023.

China (80), Germany (58), France (47), Italy (40), India (27), Czech Republic (25), etc.

Representatives from more exotic countries such as Algeria and Ivory Coast also attended the conference.


It clearly appears that the choice of the on-line form of this international conference is quite appropriate and it was possible to systematically spread awareness of scientific activities at UTB or CPS.

The next edition of Gumference 2024 will be held on 8 February 2024 again in an on-line form.
