Science has no age limits
At the end of the summer holidays, our colleague Jaroslav Císař defended his dissertation on the topic: Modification of polylactide-based biocomposite systems to expand their application potential.
The academic career of Ing. Jaroslav Císař, Ph.D., has been exceptional in many ways. While most students enter doctoral studies immediately after completing their master's degree, Mr. Císař obtained his engineering degree in 1977 and decided to pursue scientific work only after completing his long professional career at Fatra Napajedla. His story is inspiring proof that science has no boundaries.
The dissertation of Ing. Jaroslav Císař, Ph.D., focuses on evaluating the current state of environmentally friendly polymer materials based on renewable resources. He focused primarily on the polymer material polylactic acid (PLA). This material represents a promising alternative to commodity polymers produced from petroleum.
The findings from addressing this issue will help improve the user properties of PLA material and also expand its applicability, given that bioplastics are one of the most innovative materials. Also significant is the additional information on the course of structural changes in the material during the process of hydrolytic degradation, which will contribute to supplementing knowledge about the course of biodegradation of the material during composting.
The supervisor of the thesis was prof. Ing. Vladimír Sedlařík, Ph.D.
We wish Mr. Císař continued joy in science and inspiration for future generations.
