Zlín Region and the University wish to enhance cooperation with each other

07.09.2022

On 29 August 2022, prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) attended the meeting of the Council of the Zlín Region held on that day to present proposals for areas of strategic cooperation between the self-governing region and TBU to the members.

We promised to be a good partner to the University and now we are making our promise real. We take it as a commitment and we are ready to look for resources to support the institution and participate in its development,” said Governor Radim Holiš. The key agenda includes points such as supporting PhD students and post-doctoral fellows and encouraging important experts from the Czech Republic and abroad to move to the Zlín Region.
Supporting PhD students and post-docs who then become associate professors or professors to subsequently guarantee the level of the University makes this activity a beneficial kind of investment. We need to educate professionals and set up conditions for them to keep them in our Region,” added Jiří Jaroš, the Council Member responsible for digitalisation, youth and sports. More intense cooperation is also envisaged in the field of research and development of research infrastructure as well as preparation of new and innovation of existing degree programmes based on the analysis of the needs of the Zlín Region.
“I very much appreciate the exemplary and conceptual approach of the Region’s leadership in how they set up a systematic model of cooperation with Tomas Bata University in Zlín. With this, we will be able to initiate new activities leading to the fulfilment of our joint goals, which are the development of education and the promotion of a quality environment for living in our Region,” said TBU Rector Vladimír Sedlařík. The specific proposal for cooperation will be discussed by the Council at its next meeting.
