TBU CPS is a top-ranking research unit of Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU), which guarantees world-class parameters in polymer systems research and utilization of the state-of-the-art technologies. Since 2015 it has been located in an entirely new building designed to measure the needs and objectives of the research centre. The centre employs 120 research specialists, out of which around 20% come from abroad, such as Italy, USA, Russia, China, Ukraine, Turkey, India etc.

Polymer Institute, Slovak Academy of Sciences is the leading academic institution in the field of polymer chemistry, polymer physics and polymer material science in Slovak Republic. The Institute activities cover four areas: synthesis and characterization, composite polymeric materials, polymeric biomaterials and molecular simulation of polymers. Scientist from Department of Composite Materials (DCM) are involved into LiBASED project. DCM research is focused on conductive polymeric micro- and nanocomposites, preparation of the hybrid materials based on new 2D particles MXenes and carbon nanoparticles, characterization of polymeric materials, etc.
Principal Investigator: Mária Omastová, D.Sc.
Sabanci University SUNUM Nanotechnology Research Centre allows application-oriented research. SUNUM is a hub and a leading example for the implementation of “open innovation” and “innovation campus” concepts in Turkey by establishing precompetitive research consortiums and strategic research alliances with academic and industrial partners to address human and safety focused applications in especially advanced materials, and energy sectors. Collaborative research efforts at SUNUM are led by drivers such as expanding scientific results, transforming knowledge into public service, creating economic value, initiating interdisciplinary studies and establishing academic and professional partnerships. SUNUM enables the path to production for new and beneficial intellectual property and end-products by bringing together science, education, research, and technology transfer.

A battery-supercapacitor hybrid systems combine the advantages of high energy battery electrodes and high power capacitors. LiBASED consortium is aiming at the development of the new and efficient Li-ion battery-supercapacitor hybrid (LIH) device with high power and energy density simultaneously, along with good cyclability. The project proposes a novel hybrid device configuration based on different 3D nanostructured carbon based cathodes and electrospun titanate-based free-standing (anode) electrodes. By using this configuration, the LIH device is expected having high energy density (>20 Wh/kg) and power density (>5 KW/kg) with a specific capacity retention >92% over 10,000 cycles. Afterwards, the consortium will design and fabricate mini-hybrid device (prototype) with mentioned outputs. The assembled LIH devices can be applied in long-run, lightweight and cost-effective unmanned air/ground vehicles (UAVs, UGVs) which will lead positive effect on both environmental and economic issues.
