Researchers' Night 2025 at CPS: Discovering the Wealth of Science
On Friday, 26th September 2025, the Centre of Polymer Systems at Tomas Bata University in Zlín (CPS) proudly participated once again in the national and international event, Researchers' Night, following a three-year break. This year's theme, "Wealth", inspired a record number of visitors of all ages to explore the world of research and technologies shaping our future.
Throughout the evening, the Centre of Polymer Systems presented a diverse and interactive programme, highlighting the wide range of research topics pursued at the Centre. Through engaging expert explanations, hands-on workshops, and live demonstrations, the CPS team showcased the hidden wealth behind flame-retardant plastics, rubber and polymer processing, polymer recycling, nanofibre and hydrogel production, the composition of toys and everyday objects, as well as cell structures, sample preparation using laser cutting, and many other fascinating topics.
A favourite among younger visitors was the colourful slime-making activity, demonstrating the crosslinking of polyvinyl alcohol. Another popular attraction was the photo booth, where children could dress up as scientists and take home a commemorative photo.
The event was further enriched by contributions from colleagues at the Technology Transfer Centre, who shared insights into the Zlín Region and patent protection, and the Footwear Research Centre, who provided an analysis of visitors' walking styles and an overview of footwear production and research.
We extend our sincere thanks to all visitors for their enthusiastic participation, and to our dedicated colleagues and students for their efforts in preparing and presenting the event. Their willingness to share a glimpse into their daily research activities helped create a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere.
We look forward to future opportunities to explore science together!
